About us

Our Ethos

Doing the right thing, even when no one’s watching.

At Smart Chimp, we believe in something that’s become weirdly rare in the world of telecoms and IT: decency.

We treat customers the way we’d want to be treated. That means fair pricing, no sneaky auto-renewals, no hard-sell tactics, and absolutely no small print riddled with traps. (In fact, our terms are written in big, bold, human-readable text — no law degree required.)

We’re not here to squeeze clients dry.

Got a faulty cable that needs re-terminating? We’ll pop out and sort it — no charge, no drama. That’s just what you do when you genuinely care.

And we’re so confident in what we offer that we’re happy to provide free-of-charge trials. Why? Because we genuinely want to prove we mean what we say — not rope you into a contract and vanish like so many others do.

We know our way around the industry — and we’re not afraid to call out the shady stuff. From misleading leases to overpriced support and those delightful “admin fees” that seem to appear from nowhere… we’ve seen it all.

We say what others won’t — and we do what others don’t.

Some competitors aren’t our biggest fans. We’re good with that.

As Mark Twain once said:

“If you find yourself on the side of the majority, it’s time to pause and reflect.”

We’ve done plenty of reflecting — and we’ve deliberately chosen to do things differently. Because we’d rather stand up for what’s right than blend in with the rest.

💎 What we value

  • Loyalty over loopholes – we want clients to want to stay, not feel trapped
  • Transparency over tactics – what we say is what we mean
  • People over profit – our service comes first, not our margins
  • Resilience and reliability – from your broadband to our engineers
  • Kindness and clarity – no fluff, no fudge, just support that actually supports

🦍 Meet Our Founder

Not a chimp. Definitely human. Occasionally covered in jungle.

Smart Chimp was founded by a telecoms and IT veteran who’s been in the industry since he was 16 — and nearly 30 years on, he’s still just as passionate (and just as allergic to BS).

Over the years, he’s not only weathered the chaos of the telecoms world, but also had a few encounters with some shady characters — the kind that teach you hard lessons early on. Back then, he was a little avocado-shaped and top-heavy, but life has a way of handing out resilience training whether you ask for it or not.

Eventually, something snapped (probably a waistband), and he decided to change. Inspired by a celebrity ultra-runner, he signed up for the Jungle Ultra — a brutal 230km slog through the Amazon Rainforest — and lost nearly 12kg in the nine months leading up to it.

And yes — in his words — it was awful.

He doesn’t exactly enjoy these events while he’s doing them. But he does them anyway — to raise money for causes he cares about, to keep building unshakable resilience, and to show his three little chimps that you can do anything you set your mind to, if you stick at it — no matter the conditions.

It didn’t stop with the Jungle. Oh no.

Intrigued by just how much pain one man can take, and wanting to reinforce that same resilience, he went on to complete the Desert Ultra and the Ice Ultra too.

So that’s:

  • 53°C heat in the Namibian desert,
  • -30°C through the Arctic and over its mountains,
  • And all of it done fully self-supported — carrying everything needed to survive across 250km of extreme terrain (except water, and the odd bit of encouragement)

And yes — to confirm — all of them were absolutely awful.

But that’s kind of the point.

He’s a firm believer that pain teaches you more than pleasure ever will.

And that when you voluntarily face discomfort and come out the other side, you’re better equipped for everything life (or business) throws at you.

His motto?

“We don’t quit.”

Not on a trail. Not on a client. Not on his team.

He often says he measures true friendships by who shows up in bad weather — and invites clients to judge us by the same standard.

Because when things go wrong (and in tech, they sometimes do), we’ll be there — in the rain, in the mud, boots on, ready to put it right.

🤝 Come meet us

We know it’s hard to trust anyone in an industry full of faceless corporates and underhanded contracts. So don’t take our word for it — come and meet us.

Sit down with our founder. Or one of our Smart Chimps.

We’ll show you what we do, how we do it, and why we’re not like the rest.

We’re not a sales machine.

We’re a people-first service company — with morals, muscles, and a little mischief.

Let’s grab a brew and have a proper chat.
